attribute	NC_GLOBAL	description	String	SPEI is an extension of the SPI which takes into account the balance of precipitation and potential evapotranspiration (PET). As MH1, MH2 uses a timescale of 12 months. The PET must be calculated using the Hargreaves equation (Hargreaves and Samani, 1985) which is based only on daily average, minimum and maximum air temperature and other extraterrestrial parameters. Adriatic Sea sections and the Pilot Area of Emilia-Romagna (PA3) aggregate the total precipitation and PET over the respective catchment area.
